CMMG Banshee 300 Mk4 in 300 BLK – Not Your Typical AR Pistol

CMMG Banshee 300, Mk4

The CMMG Banshee 300, Mk4 is an incredibly well-machined and quality made AR pistol. The firearm featured in this review is chambered in 300 Blackout however CMMG offers several calibers to choose from. The CMMG “Banshee” line has some of the lightest and most compact AR pistols in the market. With the choices of the Banshee 100, Banshee 200 and Banshee 300 models, shooters can choose the barrel length, furniture, and caliber to create the perfect “one of a kind” AR pistol to suit each individual shooter’s needs. The Banshee 300 series are the shortest configuration of AR pistols that CMMG produces in each respective caliber.

CMMG Banshee 300 Features

The CMMG Banshee 300 Mk4 has an overall length of 23.8 inches with the brace collapsed. It features an eight inch barrel (with 1-7 twist), a DefCan 3 flash hider, a pistol length gas port, an aluminum CMMG RML7 M-Lok hand guard and a beautiful “slate” cerekote finish. CMMG offers a variety of cerakote finishes but I fell in love with the bluish-grey “slate” color. The way the slate finish stands out with the black pistol brace, Magpul grip and magazine, the Nikon Black Force1000 1×4 optic and the Defcan3 flash hider is nothing short of beautiful. Adding to the options available, the safety selector, sling plate and over-sized charging handle are all ambidextrous for convenient operation for both right and left-handed shooters.

CMMG Micro/CQB RipBrace

The CMMG Micro/CQB RipBrace offers quick deployment of the “RipBrace” to fit each shooters preferred brace position. The P3 Technology (Personal Position Preset) allows the shooter to tighten a set screw to their desired length of pull. Once set, the “RipBrace” can be quickly deployed from a collapsed position to their personal set preference by simply “ripping” the brace back to the pre-set position. This RipBrace deployment gives the shooter the advantage to quickly move the AR pistol from it’s shortest configuration to the shooter’s preferred length of pull for speedy comfort and precise accuracy. CMMG uses a shorter buffer tube, buffer and spring which makes for a smaller overall length than what the SB Tactical brace offers.

The CMMG Banshee 300, Nikon Black Force1000 & other accessories

I took the CMMG to an indoor range to sight in the Nikon Black Force1000. It didn’t take long to realize that this Banshee 300 Mk4 and the Nikon Black Force1000 were a perfect match. The glass-etched SPEEDFORCE Illuminated reticle system on the Nikon allowed for quick target acquisition and the AR pistol shot incredibly smooth and precise. I used Ammo Incorporated 110 grain soft point 300 blackout ammunition along with a GrovTec single point sling. This entire combination created an excellent shooting experience. The CMMG Banshee 300 Mk4 is not your standard AR pistol. I look forward to many more range sessions with this AR pistol.
