Peace Through Strength and Great American Peacemakers

We have heard the expression Peace through Strength used many times in connection with world politics. In its most simple terms, it means that the party trying to keep the peace must have a superior force available to use, if necessary, to suppress any violence, hostility or lawlessness, wherever or whenever peace is threatened.

It is not a new concept. The United States of America is constantly modernizing its military to defend this nation and to keep peace throughout the world. President Trump is spending billions of dollars more on our armed services, than did the previous administration, to restore them to their mighty superiority.

President Trump is a Peacemaker who, backed up by the superior strength of our military, convinced North Korea to discontinue its aggressive posture and maintain the peace. He is the real deal and there is nothing fake about him.

But on a recent trip to Paris, he was met by protesters who claimed with a distorted sense of reality that he was, in fact, a “FAKE PEACEMAKER” and a “REAL DICTATOR”!

Unfortunately, this can’t be unseen! These young ladies exploited themselves in an attempt to garner worldwide attention for their feckless message which, by any standards, is grossly incorrect. And in doing so they exposed, among other things, a baseless worldview shared only by a handful of intellectually flaccid extremists.

Keeping the peace enjoys a rich history in America. Many years ago, when our Republic was young and expanding westward into the new frontier, there was another “real” Peacemaker that kept law and order. This one also projected a powerful strength for the U.S. Army and others charged with maintaining the rule of law. It was a six shot revolver introduced by Samuel Colt and manufactured by Colt’s Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. A handgun that became known as The Peacemaker — Single Action Army and it was offered in a variety of barrel lengths, finishes, and calibers.

According to Colt, “No Colt revolver has earned greater fame than the single action army – The Peacemaker. In design and performance, in line and form, no more sculptural and practical Colt has ever been created. Movies serve as constant reminders of the role this equalizer played in winning the West. Available in 45 Colt or 357 Magnum with multiple barrel lengths and finishes.”

Undeniably, Americans have relied on firearms for self-defense and peacekeeping since our colonial days. Guns have played a legitimate and necessary role in our country’s past and they will continue to do so long into the future thanks to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which was ratified in 1791.

Because the greatest Peacemaker of them all is the Second Amendment itself.

Without it, radical politicians will continue to pass gun-grabbing laws and they will not stop until all of our guns have been confiscated. If that happens, our liberties and our right to self-defense will disappear as well and we will become mere subjects of tyrants in government.

Then peace will be hard to find.
